Volunteer Positions Available
Starting Line Dog Handlers
Dog handlers will work in groups of 3-5 to safely help mushers and their teams to the starting line. A dog handling volunteer must be able to run, under control, from the dog truck to the starting line while holding the gangline of the dogteam. Shoes/boots with good traction recommended. Some dog handlers will be asked to drive snowmachines or ATVs behind the dog teams.
Parking & Gear Checker Volunteers
These volunteers will be asked to help direct parking and then to check required gear in mushers' sledbags prior to the race.
Trail Help
Trail help volunteers will be assigned a location along the trail route to assist teams (as needed) with road crossings or at difficult turns. Most teams will simply need direction or traffic control, however a few teams may request assistance with leading their lead dogs across. A vehicle or snowmachine is needed to get to your assigned location along the trail.
